As a recording artist myself, it's always nice when my publicist tells me an event I'm confirmed to attend is music oriented. It's even better, when the artist puts on a show worth enduring the headache of trying to find parking in Hollwood, which these young men definitely did.
I first heard of DJ Young Slade during the 2015 BET Experience but didn't get a chance to see the artist at work. Finally seeing him spin this past Friday night was dope! He's certainly not a button pusher! From start to finish you could see he understood the art of being a DJ and putting some personality in his work.
Pairing DJ Young Slade with rapper, Lil Will, gave life to the event. Lil Will is in your face with so much energy you have no choice but to vibe out with him. From an artist point of view, Lil Will displays he has an ear for what works for his style and energy. His music fits!
The most impressive part of the night was finding out the show was a Foolie High Lifestyle event and getting insight on the company from the CEO, Niko Khalé. The groups calls each other "FOOLS", short for "Fruits of Our Labor" and pride themselves on exuding positivity and congratulating themselves and others on whatever pedestal someone is exceeding on. So where was the media now? Three young black men showcasing their talents and aim for positive growth; I was glad to be in the building.
Readers, make sure you guys keep up with DJ Young Slade, Lil Will, Niko Khalé and all that Foolie High Productions does in the future. They're determined to change the game.
